Let the body harnesses save your life
It doesn’t need a genius to know that hunting has its own hazards especially when using a stand. No matter how sturdy you think the stand is, it would help if you have something stronger to rely while at the top of the stand.
The safety device that is essential when hunting (especially if you are usually at the top of the stands) is the full body tree harness. These lifesavers can now be purchased along with a tree stand. This allows the hunter to move freely without worrying about accidents during the whole course of his treestand hunting. There are no retractable full body tree harnesses so that the hunter can easily climb up and down without preventing accidents (particularly falls) from happening.
Your safety during hunting is a serious issue. Go get yourself this safety hunting equipment because a simple slip at a tree stand may cause you injuries or worse your life.
What Hunting Scent do you use?
There are two kinds of scents that are commonly used when hunting. The Luring Scent and the Cover Scent.
The cover scent is mainly used to disguise the natural scent of the hunter. There is a wide array of cover scents that you can use including the natural scent of the earth, the trees, and alike. On the other hand, the lure scents are used in order to draw the animal near. More often than not, hunters use the scent of an animal mate so they can entice the prey. Both of these scents are now widely available in most hunting specialty stores.
But whatever scent you choose, it would not be an effective hunting tool as long as you have the human scent in you. It can be from your body, from the clothes that you wear, or from the smell of your breath. Remember that animals are very sensitive when it comes to smell. If you want to effectively catch your prey, then let the artificial scent dominate you.

Some of the most waterproofing products that is commonly used by hunters include petroleum jelly, pine tar, mineral oil, silicone oil, lanolin, goose grease, bear grease, and so much more. However, these products must not be used since it can cause the leather to spoil and can even result to sweaty feet as well.

Do’s and Dont’s when hunting Black Bears
Some adults also love bears but not in the way that kids do. Black bear hunting is rampant and legal in some areas although these cuddly creatures are considered extinct by animal lovers. If you are living in a region where it is legal to hunt for black bears, here are some tips before you start shooting.
- Make sure that you wash your clothes with unscented detergent and avoid perfumed soaps before hunting. Shampoos, soaps, and the deodorant that you will use prior to hunting must also be unscented as well.
- If you are a smoker, use nicotine patches instead when hunting. This is to avoid the bear from smelling tobacco (they actually know that it came from humans). Bears also have a keen sense of smell when it comes to fire and smoke.
- Always keep quiet and keep still.
- After eating and before heading to the black bear hunting site, use mint toothpaste to brush your teeth. Black bears are attracted to that scent.
Cover your distance when hunting
When hunting for any kind of animal, you must make sure that you approach carefully and quietly as much as possible. If you have enough time before the hunting season, try to use a rake and clear the twigs and the leaves on the area where you think you would include in your trail. Rake your hunting trail for at least fifty yards starting from your standing point or hunting stand. When the hunting season comes, you can also rake the trail after leaving the hunting stand. It is very important that you keep very quite on the last fifty yards especially if you are hunting in bedding areas.

Don’t let the animals smell you
One of the most essential things during hunting is to control you scent so you can effectively capture your prey. More often than not, animals rely on their sense of smell to detect if there is an incoming danger. However, you can actually deceive them and hunt successfully by doing these tricks.
· Eliminate your own scent. Do not use deodorants or perfumes that have strong scent. If using any body product, make sure that it is unscented.
· Use natural scents like plants, water, mud, or even the pee from the local animals where you would hunt. Not only that it is effective but cheaper as well.
Try also asking hunting stores if they have anti-scent clothing available. Some online stores actually have some and it comes it different patterns that would help you conceal yourself during hunting at the same time.
How to Successfully Hide when Hunting
When hunting, you must be very careful in concealing yourself in order to successfully catch the animal of your choice. Whether you are hunting for a bear, deer, bird, or anything that moves hiding and concealing is important during the whole course of hunting. Aside from trying to get close to the animal as much as possible, hiding can also prevent attacks especially if you are aiming for bigger animals.
Wear a suit that can blend with the environment. If you are hunting in a forest then a camouflage or any green hunting suit would be best. However, if you would hunt in the snow for some cuddly giant bears, then wear something light in color would do.
