Pros and cons of different bow materials
There are three different materials that are commonly used in making bows. Each has its own advantages and the prices are varied as well.
- Wood – the cheapest type of bow. Today, wooden bows are no longer mass produced. It is easily altered by the change in temperature.
- Fiberglass – the extreme change in temperature can easily cause the fiberglass bows to warp. However, this type of bow is advisable if you are aiming for arrow’s speed. Although this is an ideal bow for hunting, it can be brittle without proper and enough maintenance.
- Aluminum – it is quite expensive compare to the wooden bow. But this type of bow can be bent permanently and can break easily as well. This is the material that is usually used in archery tournaments.
